Any Exceptions?
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. ¶ Romans 8:38-39 I don't know about you, but sometimes I feel like the exception to this verse. I feel like I've messed up 1 too many times and I don't deserve God's love. But, show me in this verse, or in the entire Bible, where it ever says that we deserve God's love! You won't find it because it isn't there, and it isn't taught. We get God's love because He loves us, not because we've earned it or deserve it. As Christians, we need to get persuaded of this simple fact, you CANNOT be seperated from God...ever! No matter what you do, or how many times you mess up, He will not leave you. If you belong to God then you belong to Him in death and in life. This is why Paul could write, "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Philippians 1:21. He couldn't loose in life or death and neither can you. Angels, principalities and powers have no authority to remove you from God's love. I don't care how many laws are passed to deny you the right to worship God in public, nobody can stop you, I don't care who they are. You can pray in public, and worship Him because they cannot separate you from God. You can go high enough nor can you go low enough to escape Him, although sometimes we wish we could. Not because we don't want God's love, but because we are embarrased to be in God's presence. If you are not embarrased or ashamed of your sin, then there is something wrong. We should be ashamed, but that won't separate us from God. One of my favorite passages in the Bible illustrates this point, Psalm 139:7-18 7Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? 8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; 10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. 11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. 12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee. 13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. 14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. 15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. 17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee. We cannot go far enough to separate us from God, but we shouldn't try. When we sin, we feel terrible about what we've done, but God doesn't want to banish you and He doesn't want you to banish yourself (that's what the devil wants)! God wants you to run to Him, asking for forgiveness, and accepting it when He grants it. You CANNOT be separated from God by your actions or anybody else's action. God loves you too much to let that happen. I am not the exception to this verse, and neither are you!
