The Eyes of the Heart
1 Samuel 16:7
7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
Open the eyes of their hearts Lord...
I was looking for a particular verse containing the word heart... My search on BibleGateway.com brought up 743 verses... there is a reason that the heart is spoken of so many times in the bible... because it's important to God.
There is much the eyes can't see....
You know, I am so thankful that I have my sight... that I can see all that God has created... that I can see the people I care about... It's something I probably don't take into consideration too often and I would greatly miss if I didn't have... but you know... It wouldn't matter how well I could see if I was heart blind... I could never appreciate the worth of what I was seeing.
I love that God created us all different... and I am not sure how the world became so focused on outward things...(well of course I have a real good hunch) how we came up with all these ideal measurements... I only know that it's all a facade... it's a counterfeit... it's a distraction... and it keeps us in black in white... when we could be seeing in full color.
I don't want anyone to look at the people I love deeply and miss something because they were so focused on the garment they found not to their liking... or a facial feature that doesn't meet their standard... I can't even tell you how much I hate that. It's really sad... one... because they are judging someone I love falsely... and two because they are in the dark... they are missing so much...it's unfair...and it's unjust.
I hope anyone who reads this will ask God to open the eyes of their hearts... I pray for it too...
And to those who I love... I love you just as you are... everything about ya... in my eyes you're beautiful... and I mean that with all of my heart.
There is more to be seen than what can be seen merely with the eyes... I pray that we would all always look deeper.
Isaiah 53
2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
Don't miss something AMAZING because your vision is dim. Open the eyes of their hearts Lord!
