Intimacy of Prayer

It is in the intimacy of prayer that we receive preparation for spiritual warfare.  His Word teaches us that as we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us.  In that close fellowship with the Lover of our souls, strength and commitment are developed.

Similar to our relationship with a close friend or a lover, we want to spend more and more time with them.  We long to know what they think and what their opinions are regarding life and love.   We want to know what is important to them so that we can mold our own opinions and feelings to match those of that one we feel close affection for or the one we love.

How much more important should our desire be for Him?  To know what He thinks, what His opinions are regarding life and love and what is important to Him?  So, in those quiet, still moments we spend with Him in prayer, He hears us, He knows our hearts and He knows exactly what we need to carry out His will in the earth.  We only need afford Him that opportunity to interact with us and be touched by Him.

It is in the intimacy of prayer, that we connect with His passion for the lost.  It is in the intimacy of prayer, that we willing learn to lay down this life for Him.  It is in the intimacy of prayer that we make ourselves available to listen, and  it is the intimacy of prayer, that we learn to worship and praise Him, who loved us enough to die for us while we were yet in sin.

Pray on saints, pray on!
