kitty litter cake

ok, so...this came up in the chatter a few days ago & as i am packing up cookbooks & recipes (had NO idea i had so many!), i found the recipe, so....even though no one wanted it then, i thought i'd post it, in case someone wants it while it's still in storage. it makes a GREAT joke (and conversation piece! lol) - if anyone's interested, i'll share the story about when i made it for someone! (i'll even try to post pictures once THEY are out of storage! haha CLASSIC!) anyway...

the recipe...

ingredients: 1 spice or german chocolate cake mix; 1 white cake mix; 2 lg pkg vanilla instant pudding mix, prepared; 1 lg pkg vanilla sandwich cookies; green food coloring; 12 small tootsie rolls...

for presentation, you will need: 1 NEW kitty litter pan; 1 NEW plastic litter pan liner (i didn't use one...); and 1 NEW pooper scooper. (hahahahaha)

prepare cake mixes & bake according to directions. prepare pudding mix & chill until ready to assemble. crumble white sandwich cookies in food processor. (i HIGHLY recommend the food processor! i don't have one & crumbled the ENTIRE pkg by HAND - and it was QUITE painful!) set aside all but about 1/4 cup. add a few drops of green food coloring in 1/4 cup & mix until completely colored. (i did not use the food coloring either, the it still had the desired appearance & effect! haha...just adds the "deodorizing crystals").

when cakes are cooled to room temp, crumble into the litter box (this is why i didn't use the liner - also, not using it does not take away from the appearance or desired effect). toss with half of the non-food-dyed cookie crumbs & chilled pudding. MIX IN JUST ENOUGH PUDDING TO MOISTEN THE MIX - YOU DON'T WANT IT TOO SOGGY.

put 3 unwrapped tootsie rolls in microwave until they are soft & pliable. mold to look like....er....tootsie rolls! lol...do this with all 12 & bury some (don't forget to drape 1 or 2 over the edge & down the side of the litter box! lol) sprinkle the remaining cookie crumbs over top & add the green cookie crumbs.

serve with pooper scooper. lol

i was too full to actually EAT any of it, but i was told that it was actually rather good! lol i wish i'd have thought to get it all on VIDEO! it truly was THAT hilarious! :) (if any of you make it, you SO have to share the experience! lol)
