Make a Joyful Noise
Psalm 95:1
God has invited us to a special concert with Him. He is the audience and WE are the musical act. It's kind of a scary thought, or at least it would be if you had ever heard me sing. I can't carry a tune to save my life, but God doesn't care. God is worthy. He is worthy to be sung about. He is worthy to be sung to. Some times when I sing to Him I think He says, "what did I do to deserve this...", but thankfully, He accepts my song of praise to Him because He loves me. He is not like a certain American Idol judge who shall remain nameless, that picks apart our pitch and tone. Notice the verse doesn't say, "make a good noise" or "make a beautiful noise". It says "make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation." In Christianity, we can make a joyful noise anytime. Through the good times and the bad times. When we feel like we are being held in God's arms, and when we feel like we don't deserve to be in the same universe as God because joy is not dependant on our circumstances. Joy is from the Lord. Psalm 16:11 says, "Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore." In God's presence is the fulness of joy, and God is present everywhere. So, next time you feel down or depressed, try singing to God, and remember that you have a reason to be joyful.
