My Purpose.

Recently I was asked to state in a nutshell what makes me a Christian and why, so here's what I wrote:

I believe that the heart of what makes me a Christian hinges all on the triune God and what He alone has done as part of His purpose, plan and redemptive story.

God, who did not wait for me to draw near to him, clothed himself with frail humanity and paid the ultimate price for my sin that I might be reconciled to him. All this he had ordained before the beginning of time.. before he had even ordained a single day of my life. What's more, the story of God redeeming not only me but countless others through the ages is ultimately a testament to God and His nature - which is to in all things bring glory to Himself.

In order to live out this reality of being a new creation means handing over every area of my life to God. It means being authentic and active in not only looking for ways to grow in my walk with God, but looking for ways to practically serve the church & reach out to others in a way that is meaningful - not by seeing or treating people as some sort of 'spiritual project' to work on but by building sincere relationships with them. And doing this in a way that does not lead them to believe I am 'superior' to them at all, just because I'm a Christian.

Overall, as a Christian I am called to exalt God with my mouth and with my life and to be a reflector of His glory :)
