Praying for the King

The other day I was reading in the book of Ecclesiastes chapter 10, when I came across verse 20 where it said:

"Do not curse the King, even in thought; Do not curse the rich, even in your bedroom; For a bird of the air may carry your voice, And a bird in flight may tell the matter."

I think this verse should apply to Presidents as well. While we may not agree or like what a person of leadership is doing, we still should be praying for him and not negating those prayers with complaing.

When I think about the last part of that verse, it suddenly dawned on me that there are millions of people who use social networking sites, like twitter (bird) to voice there thoughts. We sit in our rooms and type it out onto public space, and then we become angry when the person to whom those thoughts were directed towards, finds out.

So I have decided that God has everything under control, considering that "The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes." (Proverbs 21:1) I think it is something that many of us forget from time to time. This means that we need to help keep each other from going down the wrong road, because it can hurt us as much as it does the people we talk about.
