Pure excellence

today is....

On one calander I am told that it is bring your pet to work day.

On another calander I am told it is young authors day.

On another Chocolate and flowers day.

But the one I want to talk about it what my main calander says today is. Today is "spread the excellence day" which  means be excellent to yourself, your friends, your loved ones and even to perfect strangers.

If you need a reminder of how we are told to do so, allow me the following:

Matthew 7:5 and  Luke 6:42
"Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye."

u    This is in the Bible twice.  Does that mean it's important?

John 8:7
"... He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone...  "
Matthew 22:39
"Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself. "
Lev 19:34
"the stranger that dwells with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shall love him as thyself;"
John 4:20
"If a man say, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?"
 Romans 12:19

"Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather leave room for God's rath:  for it is written,  Vengeance is mine; I will repay saith the Lord."

u    "Do onto others as you would have them do onto you."
u    "Judge not lest you be judged."
u    "As you sow, so shall you reap. "
u    "If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the left."

Well, there you have it. This ties in to the basic need and desire for  humanity. In 1989, Hollywood thought it neccessary to even make a movie on the subject, where the key words that formed a futuristic nation were simply "be excellent to each other"

That seems so simple right? But it is not.

If you have the slightest road rage, if you say something derogitory of someone under your breath, if you judge someone in a restaurant due to the eating habits or size, If you cut someone off in traffic, If you get off the phone with someone who annoyed you and say "IDIOT!", if you grunt at the person in front of you in the store line... and so many MANY more ways that we are just so NOT excellent to each other on any given day.

We are a people of impatiance. We are a people of greed.

Let me ask you though, If you do not practice it, how do you expect anyone to practice it to you?
