Scars on His hands testimony

12 years ago my faithful companion Angel, a beatiful Golden Retriever, and I were Goose Hunting near a lake that resembled more of a huge pond or slough.  It was mid November and a small crust of ice had covered most of the lake surface.  My friend Dave gave us permission to hunt his land that borders this central South Dakota lake.  We just finished putting the sneak on a flock of Snow Geese and shot 3 of them that all fell on the ice.  My dog ran out onto the ice to retrieve the first goose then headed back out, this time falling through the thin ice about 80yards from shore....She tried and tried to get back on the ice but to no avail....After about 10min I could see that no way would she get back to shore...I started to head in after her busting ice with my fists as I slowly made my way to save her..It started out very cold and shallow but the closer to her the deeper it was although I wasn't cold anymore, adrenaline I thought...After what seemed like eternity, I made it out to her in neck deep ice water and reached for her neck and slowly made our way back to shore...The closer I got to shore the heavier I felt...When I finally reached shore I couldn't move my legs and fell on my face..Hypothermia set in...I couldn't think straight or talk clear either...I tried to yell for help but I was at leas 1/4 mile from the nearest road.  I Cried to God to please Save me that I was sorry and will Change my Life for you if you let me live....I crawled to my shotgun and using my arms pulled myself to my feet balancing on it like a crutch...Baby step after baby step I trudged towards the road gaining a little feeling back with every few yards til I made it to my truck still numb and tingling.  God had spared my life!  I had my Angel by my side the whole time...Both of them!...He must have had plans for me yet I thought.  After that I studied the Bible to learn more about God and was Baptized the following Spring.  My hands are forever Scarred to remind me of that day and saving my dog, Angel.  That reminded me of Jesus and the scars on his hands for Saving all of Humanity that choose to accept and follow Him.  My scars are pale in comparison but I am forever thankful for that One Answered Prayer that cold Nov. day!
