Wait for Him
O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.
¶ Isaiah 33:2
Did you know that God's timing is perfect? Not some of the time or even most of the time, but His timing is perfect ALL of the time! For us to really experience this though, we need to wait for His timing. The first part of this verse says, "O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee". A lot of times, we think that we know what God wants from us, so we pray for God to go with us and to help us along the way, when in reality, we need to pray that God will take us along with Him and allow us to be with Him along the way. He is the one that is working! Even when He uses us to accomplish His will, it is still Him working. He is busy around us all the time and He wants us to join in His work, but you cannot assume that you know what He wants you to do, you need to know. Knowing is only going to come from a lot of prayer and waiting. This "waiting" is not idleness or a lack of action, instead it is doing what God has already told us to do (witnessing to the lost, studying our Bible, going to Church, praying, giving, loving) and trusting in Him to take us to the next step that He has planned for us.
My wife and I are in the process of buying our first home. We have looked at several places and each time, we found something that we liked, we would get excited. We would pray about it and think, "This is the place". Even though we wanted the house, we wanted God's will for us even more so we prayed for God to either open the doors for us, or close them, and He had to close them on several places. We were disappointed and frustrated, but we knew that if we trusted Him, then He would get us the perfect place. The place that we are trying to buy now is that place. We know that He has been preparing this place for us. It is by far, the best house that we've looked at, the most inexpensive house that we've looked at, and it already feels like home, but we are still praying. His timing was perfect in our situation and it will be perfect in your situation, whatever that situation may be!
The second part of this verse says, "be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble." The word translated "salvation" is the Hebrew word "Yeshuah". When used as a name it was Joshua or Jesus. Jesus is our salvation! He is our salvation for our souls and He is our salvation in everyday life. During the "time of trouble" it may feel like He's forgotten you, but He hasn't! He is working and when He intervenes, it will be the Perfect time!
