Yesterday's adventure

Yesterday my family went out to dinner at O'Charley's which is 45 minutes away from our house. We had a nice dinner and my brother and I ended up with left over food (chicken strips). When we got back to the car, we all buckled our seat belts and got ready to head back home. (It was about 7:50) When my dad tried to turn on the car nothing happened! So we tried it numerous times and nothing happened any of those times. So we popped open the hood to try to see if there was something we could to to try to fix it. Unfortunatly none of us know anything about cars so we ended up just calling AAA. A family of four came up to us and asked if we needed some cables to start it up, so we accepted and they tried to get our battery to charge but we couldn't get it to spark. AAA told us that it would be at least 45 minutes until they got there (around 8:30) So we all just sat around and prayed that they would be able to help us. Suddenly I realized I was supposed to take my contacts out at 7 and I didn't have my case or solution with me. So my mom tried to figure out a place we could go to find the stuff I needed. There was a Bigg's about 3/4 of a mile away so my mom and I decided we would walk there to get my supplies. We walked across a Home Depot parking lot, across two small streets, through a small gas station, across the parking lots of 2 hotels and a Waffle House, and we finally reached the busiest street in the area in which we had to cross to reach our destination. (Oh and by the way I was wearing flip-flops and my mom was in slides that are on wedges, so we were not wearing proper shoes for such a walk.) So we go up to the curb on this street and looked across the way to see a no pedestrian sign on a lightpost. So we crossed yet another street to get to the other side of this intersection where we could cross. When we got across we successfully crossed a Burger King parking lot and the Bigg's parking lot. We got the stuff I needed and started our journey back to the O'Charley's where my dad, brother, and dead car were waiting. When we reached the Home Depot parking lot (which is next to the resteraunt) my mom start worrying that they had gotten the car started back up and went to pick us up at Bigg's. But I knew that they would have called me to tell me if they were so it wasn't a problem. Then I started telling my mom that I was going to blog this adventure and I started planning it out. Then I started thinkiing and said "If they had to tow our car, I hope Phil (my brother) got the chicken strips out of the back of the car" HAHA. So as my mom and I laughed we reached the resteraunt and saw that our car and family members were still there along with the AAA guy. He replaced our battery and when he was finishing up I said to my mom "Do you think that we should give the AAA guy our left over chicken strips to thank him." So we were laughing again and later I told the family that God was taking good care of us because we could have easily been stranded on the side of the highway instead of the O'Charley's parking lot.

So overall I had a very interesting night and I am very thankful that we were not on the side of a highway for the rest of the night. :)
